Latest Youth Parent Letter

Happy New Year to you all, my hope and prayer is that you had a wonderful Christmas with time to pause and rest and as 2018 came to a close, a time to reflect on the year and all that has happened.

2018 was a big year for Melissa, our boys and I as we celebrated some exciting moments and transitions (moving from Southern California to the Northwest). It is crazy to think that we have been here at Warm Beach now for over 6 months and we have been so blessed by how you all have welcomed us and made us a part of the family, thank you.  It has been a joy doing life with you all and our students, there is a lot of good happening with the students of Warm Beach Student Ministries.

In October and November, we spent a weekend with the junior high students and a weekend with the high school students over at the camp for the annual fall retreat with other churches from the Pacific Northwest Conference, taking 23 junior higher and 18 high school students. It was a great time of connection and fostering deeper relationships with the students as well as the leaders.

We were blessed and encouraged by those who came and shared their story with our students and then enjoyed journeying through the book of Genesis and then ending the year looking at what worship is.

As we begin 2019, we are going to take some time to think about and wrestle with the areas of our lives where we may need a fresh start. Jesus, throughout the gospels, speaks about offering a new life and a new way and we want to ask ourselves how that applies and matters in our lives today. We are also going to spend some time looking at the story of Ruth and the selflessness of her love for Naomi and what it means to show real love for others. And, then we will spend some time looking into the story of Jonah and what an “all-in” life for Jesus looks like.

Here are some dates to put on the calendar:

April 26-27: Youth Group Spring Retreat

It is going to be a great start to 2019 and I can’t wait to see what the Lord will do through the rest of the year.

Blessings to you all and Happy New Year,

Pastor Jake
